Last Week of School

The last week of school has arrived and it will be a busy one!  Monday morning we will have Junior Achievement lessons and we will have some fun activities planned for the afternoon. Tuesday morning we will have our school-wide awards assembly.  Wednesday morning the entire school, grades K-8, will attend the 8th grade graduation at the Convention Center.  Report and assessments will be sent home on Wednesday.

Thursday is Field Day.  All families received an email from Oasis Academy reminding you to label towels and clothing, sunscreen your child prior to sending them to school and only one piece swimming suits are acceptable.  Please drop off your child by 8:00 and ALL students will be dismissed at 2:00 on Thursday.

I have loved teaching this group of 1st graders this year.  They have definitely kept me on my toes.  They have all grown academically as well as physically.  I have no doubt that they will continue to make great strides in school in the future.

Please take the time to have your child read to you over the summer.  Plan on stopping by the library and signing your child up for a library card.  The children's librarian, Jessie, is a sweet lady who adores children.  There are great things happening at the library all summer and who knows your child may run into me there as I love visiting the library also!

Have a wonderful summer with your family,
Katy Loop

Quarter 4--Week 8 Slideshow and Info

I hope all you wonderful Mother's felt truly appreciated for Mother's Day!  I felt appreciated last week with all the wonderful cards, notes, and gifts that I received from many of you for Teacher Appreciation Week.  I truly do love teaching and I appreciate all of the wonderful families who want to be a positive influence in their child's education.  It is hard to believe that there are only 8 more days of school left of this school year.

This week I will continue completing end of the year report card assessments.  Report card will be sent home next Wednesday.  Reading fluency and sight word testing will continue through this week.  Please have your child continue to read nightly so they keep their brain nice and strong.

8th GRADE LEMONADE STANDS will continue through Tuesday, May 23.  Feel free to continue sending your child with a quarter or two for lemonade if you want.

Last week the 3rd graders had their own stores that they made products to "sell" to the 1st graders. Each 1st grader was given $20 (play money) and they got to be consumers and shop at each 3rd grade store.  I'm sure you noticed the creative things that were bought when your child took them out of their backpacks.  It was a fun time had by all and they got put into action what we have been learning about producers, consumers, goods, and services.
